Caring for Fleece Garments

Fleece clothing can protect your little ones from the cold, keeping them comfortable even during the winter season. However, improper care and handling may take away your items' original qualities. Inappropriate washing, for example, may cause the fibres to break down. To keep your fleece smooth and soft for a long time, please follow the time-tested washing tips detailed below.

The first thing that you have to do is check the care label specified by the manufacturers. Read washing instructions carefully, taking into account that fleece may differ in materials and manufacturing methods. Keep in mind as well that fleece easily picks up lint, so avoid washing them along with towels, socks, and other such items. Furthermore, to prevent piling, you have to turn your items inside-out.

When machine-washing, use cold water, and do make sure to set the mode on a gentle cycle. This is because warm water and rough machine cycle may damage your fleece clothing. In addition, make sure to wash like-coloured items together to avoid discolouration. As to the cleaning agent, opt for mild laundry detergents and avoid fabric softeners and bleach unless specified. To avoid residues, it would be smart to dissolve your detergent before dumping your articles in. Better still, use liquid laundry soap for easy mixing.

Additionally, you may machine dry with low temperature; you may also choose to hang your fleece garments to dry. Take note, however, that fleece should not be dry-cleaned, pressed, ironed or steamed as direct exposure to extreme heat may cause the materials to melt.
